#3 + music video

NEW LADY GAGA VIDEO! - TELEPHONE
Lady Gaga ft. Beyonce - Telephone

You all know I love Lady Gaga! And I hope you do too. I was really excited for this video... Telephone is one of my favorite songs off the Fame Monster album. I really liked that it was actually more of a music VIDEO, rather than standing and dancing in REALLY random places with no plot whatsoever. Hey, this may be out there... but I really liked the direction it went in! Plus the makeup and costumes are always amazing. Sad that I know I could never wear those skimpy little things :(

MOOD: CONTEMPLATIVE

So I've been trying to think a bit more positively about this 3 extra years in college thing... If I stay and finish my degree here then...

+ I can try to feel like a real college student and try to have fun and have the "college experience" that I feel like I've missed out on for the past 3 years. And 3 years is plenty of time...
+ I can get back into doing costumes/tech at university theatre! And stick with it longer like I've wanted to.
+ I can apply to Art to Wear and do something I enjoy for 3 more years.
+ I can do more things that interest me outside class and try to use things from class as well...
+ If I want to apply for an MFA for costume design, I should try to learn those things so I can qualify while I'm here... And maybe use techniques in my costumes/clothes I want to make.
+ I have more time to network.
- I'll be 23 when I graduate... and I was 17 when I got into college....
- Lots and lots and lots of debt.
- Not studying the EXACT major/interest I might want.
+ Still getting 2 degrees saying I can do stuff...
- Being in Raleigh for 3 more years.
+ Bad economy... good time to stay in school? Kinda...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I haven't been as crazy in my clothes as I'd like since I've started this.... But I still need to get my stuff cleaned and organized so I can see everything.. I can easily make outfits if I can see all the shoes, pants, shirts, everything... If I can't... I become more boring. Ahhh whatever... I'll fix it soon!

black dress: belk (on sale for $10 after christmas)
Grey leopard cardigan: forever 21 (dont remember $, but it was probably $15-20)
hot pink tights: target ($5-7 on sale)
awesome shoes: Journeys ($30)

I know I've shown you the shoes before... but hell I liked them with the outfit... and I'm showing you a closeup of the awesome!!

Breaking Point

I mean... I've had a couple meltdowns in the past few days about college, but I was holding out for my advisor meeting that was today. The degree requirements keep changing and apparently I came into my program at a very confusing time. But, its almost sorted out and it looks good.. Except for the realization that it is pretty set in stone that its going to take me 3 more years to finish college. Like no joke. 6 years total. For 2 majors. Its a 5 year program... Is it worth just staying here an extra year? Because my other option is switching to another school completely and studying costume design... because they have that major there....

I'm seriously confused. And I hate this. I hate college for the most part. I hate hype... it was sooo not accurate for me.

MAKEUP REVIEW
Cover Girl Line Exact Liquid Eyeliner
$5-10

I have always been VERY skeptical of liquid eyeliners. Myself, I could never seem to steady my hand enough to not mess it up.... So I went out on a limb and tried this stuff 'cause I love those cat eyes that I see people do so well.

LOVE:
+ It is actually really easy to do those cat eyes!
+ Great for not so steady hands.
+ Lasts a long time. Waterproof.
+ Also good for just normal eyeliner definition.
+ Gives a really solid black line.
+ Very precise point on cat eye because of the shape/stiffness of the tip.

HATE:
- It starts to run out of "ink" fairly quickly. I used it on a daily basis for about 2-3 weeks and then it wouldn't give me the solid black.
- Dries out after a while.
- Vigorous shaking and sometimes water is needed to make it work again after it starts drying out.
- Kind of expensive for the amount of wear you get out of it.

I really loved the effect, and it was super easy to put on for my 8am class when I was still sleepy, and when it was solid black and not drying out, it was great... But, all in all... it might be good for learning kind of how to use liquid eyeliner if you tend to get really frustrated like me... But, honestly, it seems to costly to me to keep on buying.... Unless your rich and NOT a college student... then fine!

MOOD: TIRED
Some College Conclusions:
+ It's not really about me and what I want. It's about getting a stupid piece of paper saying I have enough patience and enough debt to last me the rest of my life.
+ I can't expect to go to college to learn what I want to learn. I have to go there, take bullshit classes and learn what I want to by myself, in addition to "getting involved" in school, getting really good grades, getting internships, and "growing"....
+ It completely sucks all creativity and drive out of you unless you love what you are doing. And often if you love doing something... You can't find a program that either exists, or is affordable, or is feasible to get in to.
+ The college SYSTEM here... at least where I am... doesn't make ANY sense.

MOOD: FRUSTERATED

This is what I get for not trying for over 2 years. I have really tried some days... But not enough....

White spaghetti strap shirt: Charlotte Russe (~$7?)
Black tank top: Forever 21 ($3.50)
Jeans: Delia's, MORGAN style, long ($20)
Black flats: Rack Room Shoes ($13?)

Introduction

So college actually ISN'T the greatest and most happy and fun time of my life...And even though I am in "creative"majors, the classes DULL my creativity and completely DIMINISH my motivation. I'm not sure what that says about me... But I see it happening right before my eyes. There are few things I find joy in these days... And one of the few things I do know about myself and what does make me happy is that dressing up on a daily basis (no, not always heels, and fancy dresses...). Dressing in something that reflects my mood, and makes me feel better, and feeling pretty helps me. It really does. And it's sad that I have lost this in college. Because...Sometimes, dressing in all black with a slick ponytail and black leather boots and thick eyeliner just lifts a shitty mood and not to mention, makes me feel sexier.

If you knew me in high school, I used to dress almost every day in heels and in strange "mismatched" clothes and makeup. But hey, it worked. I know it, and many people told me that it did as well! Did you know... I had 37 fucking pairs of heels!!! and like 2 flats. it was ridiculous... what happened to that now, you ask???

COLLEGE.

Simple and so.... oh sooo UN-sweet. I tried to keep up my outfits freshman year, I REALLY did. But walking on this huge campus absolutely covered in bricks, with over 30,000 people, was just soooo irritating. Not to mention the lack of tiem and energy I had to get ready! I was so sick my freshman year (almost every other week I was really sick)... I USED to give myself at least an hour or more every morning in high school to get ready each morning. And here I am... my 3rd year in college... completely depressed with my major choices...wanting to switch colleges completely.. and feeling stuck beyond belief!! All I'm really trying to do here is keep myself sane. Maybe by doing something that I know will make me feel better, I can start to sort some other things out...

So here's what's going to happen....
1) I'm going to try to post everyday with my outfit (back to my old--non college--style)
2) Post any info I get on cheap beauty/clothing products and possibly reviews (I would have loved for some people to let me know some of the stuff I do now...)
3) Post some inspiration! (And happy things!!! to counteract this college depression!)
4) Take commissions/post my work on costumes and clothes that I make.
5) YOU! Should totally let me know what you think!!! Tell me your own stories!! :)

IF YOU HAVE any OTHER ideas related to these, that you think i could do successfully, please let me know!! i really need an outlet...
